Statement of Support for Health Equity

Health equity means that everyone has the right to well-being, health, and health care. Disparities in health and access to health care due to factors such as socioeconomic status, race, gender, and educational attainment persist, impeding the aim of achieving health equity.

Peak Health Alliance’s mission is to provide better health insurance options for employers, employees, family members, and individuals in rural Colorado. Health equity is inextricably linked to this mission.

To provide authentic leadership for health equity, Peak Health Alliance strives to:

• Make long-term economic and community development the centerpiece of any strategy to advance rural health equity.
• Break down rural barriers to healthcare by constructing and maintaining a strong network of clinical professionals in the Peak footprint to address the healthcare needs of the local population.
• Collaborate with other community organizations in addressing the social determinants of health.
• Support innovation, testing, and adaptation of interventions that have been effective at advancing equity in health and its determinants that appear promising for rural environments.
